Albert Benjamin "Happy" Chandler served as Major League Baseball's second commissioner from 1945 to 1951. His tenure was marked by significant changes, including his support for Jackie Robinson's breaking of the color barrier in 1947 despite opposition from many team owners2. Chandler also established the player pension fund using revenue from World Series radio contracts. Before becoming commissioner, Chandler was a U.S. Senator and Governor of Kentucky. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982 for his contributions to the sport.
