Jim Turner was a pitcher and coach in Major League Baseball. He played from 1937 to 1945, starting his MLB career relatively late at age 33 after spending 14 seasons in the minor leagues. His teams included: Boston Bees (1937–1939) Cincinnati Reds (1940–1942) New York Yankees (1942–1945) Turner had a 69–60 win-loss record with a 3.22 ERA and was an All-Star in 1938. He won two World Series titles as a player (1940 with the Reds and 1943 with the Yankees) and later became a pitching coach, most notably for the Yankees under Casey Stengel from 1949 to 1959, during which time they won seven championships. He also coached for the Cincinnati Reds (1961–1965) and returned to the Yankees from 1966 to 1973.
