Catcher - Browns/Red Sox1929-1947Hall of Fame 1984
Rick Ferrell was a durable and skilled catcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1929 to 1947. He spent time with the St. Louis Browns, Boston Red Sox, and Washington Senators, earning a reputation as one of the best defensive catchers of his era. Ferrell was an eight-time All-Star and held the American League record for most games caught (1,806) until Carlton Fisk surpassed him in 1988. Though he lacked power, hitting only 28 home runs, Ferrell maintained a .281 career batting average and was known for his ability to handle pitchers effectively. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984 by the Veterans Committee. His brother, Wes Ferrell, was a successful pitcher, and the two played together on the Red Sox and Senators in the 1930s
